Overall assessment

Why this response received Band 6.5

The strongest aspect is the clear, consistent position supported by extended personal examples covering different age groups, which addresses the opinion task well. The main limitation is language control: recurring errors in word choice, articles, and grammar such as 'usefull', 'kneeting', and 'free time activities helps' occasionally distract from the message despite generally clear organisation.

IELTS criteria

How each score was decided

Task Response

7.0

The response presents a clear, consistent opinion that people of all ages should have a hobby, develops two relevant main ideas with extended examples, and reaches a supporting conclusion, though the examples remain somewhat personal and generalised.

Coherence and Cohesion

7.0

Ideas progress logically through well-managed paragraphing and a range of cohesive devices, although connectors such as 'thus' and 'consequently' are occasionally used mechanically.

Lexical Resource

6.0

There is sufficient lexical range to discuss the topic fluently, but recurring errors in word choice and spelling, including 'usefull', 'kneeting', and 'looks up for new information', reduce precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy

6.0

A mix of structures, including inversion and conditionals, is attempted, but frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, articles, and phrasing such as 'worth to keep it up' limit grammatical accuracy.
