It is often argued that primary schools place too much emphasis on formal learning. Although developing basic literacy and numeracy is an essential goal of primary education, I largely agree with this opinion. While academic learning should provide children with a strong foundation, it should be balanced with opportunities for play, as both are equally important in supporting children’s development.
