Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to get some details about the seminar - New Techniques of Production Management, which your organisation will administer in London. I am hoping that you will reply to my queries so that I can book my seat for the symposium. I have been working as a production manager in a large home appliances company in Iran for the last five years and I think this seminar would be helpful to me as it covers some new approaches to managing workers and manufacturing lines. I believe this seminar would enhance participants' knowledge and skills in different management and styles applied in the home appliance manufacturing industry. As I did not obtain all the information that I need from your advertisement, I would like to know the date and schedule of the seminar. What kind of accommodation would you prepare for the participants, if at all? Finally, Can I book and pay online? If so, , please. I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest. Yours faithfully, Milad Rahimi

Overall assessment

Why this response received Band 7.0

The letter communicates its purpose and asks about dates, accommodation and costs in a polite register. The programme enquiry remains thin, and the whole text lacks paragraph divisions. There are also clear errors in the direct question about registration and the phrase details instructions.

IELTS criteria

How each score was decided

Task Achievement

7.0

The letter clearly states its purpose, adopts a consistently suitable formal tone, and covers dates, accommodation, and cost with relevant supporting detail, but the request for programme details is only thinly addressed through a passing mention of the schedule.

Coherence and Cohesion

5.5

The sequence from background to practical enquiries is understandable, but the complete letter is presented as a single paragraph. Paragraph divisions are needed to separate its main stages and make the requests easy to follow.

Lexical Resource

7.5

Vocabulary is fluent and precise for a professional context, including items like 'administer', 'symposium', and 'enhance participants' knowledge', with only minor imprecision such as 'prepare' for accommodation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy

7.0

A wide range of sentence structures is used with generally good control, but several errors appear, including 'how much the registration would cost' and 'give me details instructions', which slightly reduce accuracy.
