Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing this epistle to enquire about your upcoming conference in Germany on the future roadmap of SAP technology. As I am currently working on this technical platform, I am very keen to attend this seminar, which will benefit me significantly on the professional front.

Through this letter, I would like to ask few relevant details I need to know the exact start and end dates as I have to find someone to fill in for me at the workplace. Secondly, I would really appreciate it if you could send the list of activities planned day-wise and the names of guest speakers during the 5-day seminar.

Furthermore, I would like to know about the accommodation if you will arrange it? If so, please confirm if it will be paid or complimentary. Finally, let me know the price of attending the conference inclusive of all activities.

I look forward to hearing from you so I can commence with the arrangements from my end.

Yours faithfully,

Overall assessment

Why this response received Band 7.0

The letter's strongest aspect is its complete and clearly organised coverage of all four bullet points in an appropriately formal register. The main limitation is some unnatural or slightly off-register word choice, such as 'epistle', and a handful of minor grammatical slips that slightly reduce precision.

IELTS criteria

How each score was decided

Task Achievement

7.0

The letter clearly states its purpose, covers all four bullet points (dates, programme, accommodation, cost) with relevant supporting detail, and maintains a consistently formal tone, though a few word choices sit oddly in register.

Coherence and Cohesion

7.0

Ideas progress logically across signalled stages with effective use of sequencing devices such as 'At first', 'Secondly', and 'Finally', with only minor mechanical cohesion.

Lexical Resource

7.0

Vocabulary is generally precise and appropriately formal for a professional enquiry, showing reasonable flexibility, though occasional odd selections like 'epistle' and 'on the professional front' reduce naturalness.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy

7.0

A good range of structures, including conditionals and polite request forms, is used with generally strong control, with only occasional errors such as 'ask few relevant details' and 'if you will arrange it?'.
