Overall assessment

Why this response received Band 7.0

The strongest aspect is the accurate and well-organised comparison between the current industrial site and its planned residential conversion, with a clear overview and mostly precise spatial language. The main limitation is that a few features, such as the playground and the exact layout of new roads, are only loosely or partially described rather than fully covered.

IELTS criteria

How each score was decided

Task Achievement

7.0

The response covers a clear overview of the transformation from industrial to residential use and reports most key changes accurately, though the playground is omitted, the future northern road layout is only loosely described, and 'a park' slightly mislabels the playground.

Coherence and Cohesion

7.0

Ideas are logically sequenced from present to future with effective use of cohesive devices and clear paragraphing, with only occasional slightly mechanical linking.

Lexical Resource

7.0

There is a good range of location and change vocabulary, including phrases like 'slated to undergo a comprehensive metamorphosis' and 'dispersed on both sides', used with reasonable precision despite occasional over-formality.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy

7.0

A variety of complex structures, including passive and participial constructions, is used flexibly and accurately, with only minor errors that do not impede meaning.
