Overall assessment

The response has a clear structure and generally varied language that communicates both views without difficulty. Its main limitation is the development and evaluation of those views: financial risks are identified without a detailed causal example, and the conclusion does not explain why the benefits justify the writer’s preference. The reference to “not doing so” also makes the final judgement unclear.

TR

Task Response

Both views are addressed and the introduction clearly favours sharing. The financial-risk argument needs fuller explanation, and the conclusion leaves the competing concerns unresolved while using an unclear reference to “not doing so”.

6.5
CC

Coherence and Cohesion

The response follows a logical paragraph progression with workable cohesive devices, though linking is at times mechanical and the concluding summary oversimplifies the argument.

6.5
LR

Lexical Resource

Vocabulary is reasonably varied and precise, including items such as 'competitive advantage' and 'patent issues,' with only occasional imprecise or awkward collocations.

7.0
GRA

Grammatical Range and Accuracy

A range of complex structures is used with generally good control, and errors are minor and rarely impede meaning.

7.0

What to work on next

Explain how disclosure could harm a firm’s ability to recover research costs, then clarify the final reference to “not doing so” and weigh those risks against the benefits of sharing.
