While technology has given the people freedom to enjoy their life independently, they have also become dependent on each other’s support when things do not go well in this fast paced society. This essay will analyze both the views and will explain why people have become more independent nowadays.
In the modern world, it is fairly easy to share information with anyone. People are heavily involved on social networking sites where they get updates about the people they are connected to. The posts only shows the amazing things happening in someone’s life like travelling to a new country, getting a job in a top multinational company or buying a car which triggers disappointment and negativity to the reader. In order to overcome these thoughts, people need emotional and moral support of the family. A recent study conducted by the Cambridge University highlighted people who are regularly online on networking sites are less happier to those who uses them rarely.
Although, with help of modern devices people have become more independent than they were before. A youngster staying away from his/her family is more comfortable in managing life by cooking food through online videos or easily commuting from one city to another. People are bombarded these days with pictures of beautiful models and people who seem to have perfect lives. Many people therefore feel the need to go on social media, such as Facebook and Instagram, in order to post pictures and they need others to get as many ‘likes’ as possible. In addition to this, because of the hectic and busy lives some families lead, it is argued they are dependent on others to support them, such as with grandparents helping to take care of their grandchildren because the parents don't have time.
However, despite this, overall I believe that people are generally more independent. This can be seen in the way that so many people live away from their families and lead their own lives. For example, families used to live nearby to each other, but nowadays people often reside in different cities to their parents and siblings or in other countries, seeing each other only rarely in some cases.
