Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to offer feedback on the Short Cookery Course I recently attended at your cooking classes during the last week of April.

Overall, I found the Course to be exceptionally beneficial, with several commendable aspects. The instructors demonstrated a profound understanding of culinary techniques and effectively conveyed complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner. The hands-on sessions were particularly enlightening, allowing us to practice and refine our skills under expert guidance. Moreover, I appreciated the well-structured curriculum, which covered a diverse range of topics pertinent to both novice and intermediate cooks. The Course materials provided were comprehensive and served as valuable resources for further study and reference.

However, to enhance the overall learning experience, I suggest incorporating more interactive activities and group discussions to facilitate peer learning and collaboration effectively, fostering a more dynamic learning environment.

I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in this enriching course and commend the instructors for their dedication and expertise.

Sincerely, Tusk Mask

Overall assessment

The letter is written in fluent, controlled English with a wide vocabulary and clear organisation, which is its strongest aspect. However, it fails to address two of the three required bullet points: it never says how much cooking the writer has done since the course, and instead of suggesting another course the school could offer, it provides a generic teaching-quality suggestion, leaving the communicative purpose only partly achieved.

TA

Task Achievement

The response adopts an appropriate formal tone and describes what was enjoyed in detail, but it omits the bullet about how much cooking has been done since the course and replaces the requested suggestion of another cookery course with general feedback on teaching methods, so the letter's purpose is only partly achieved.

4.5
CC

Coherence and Cohesion

Ideas progress logically through clear paragraphs with effective linking devices such as 'Overall', 'Moreover' and 'However', though the misplaced suggestion paragraph slightly disrupts the letter's expected structure.

6.5
LR

Lexical Resource

Vocabulary is flexible and precise, with natural collocations such as 'profound understanding', 'hands-on sessions', 'well-structured curriculum' and 'enriching course', showing good awareness of style.

GRA

Grammatical Range and Accuracy

Sentence structures are varied and mostly accurate, including complex forms like relative clauses and participle constructions, with only minor slips such as inconsistent capitalisation of 'course'.

What to work on next

Cover every bullet point in the prompt by adding a paragraph on how often you have cooked since the course and another proposing a specific new course you would like the school to offer.
