Overall assessment

Why this response received Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the task and maintains a clear stance that education is the main upcoming problem, with the strongest aspect being its use of extended explanation and examples. The main limitation is strained and sometimes illogical reasoning, particularly the claim that environmental problems will barely arise, alongside frequent idiomatic and grammatical inaccuracy.

IELTS criteria

How each score was decided

TR Task Response

6.0

The response addresses both questions, states a clear position prioritizing education, and supports ideas with examples, but development is uneven and some arguments, especially about environmental problems, are asserted rather than convincingly reasoned.

CC Coherence and Cohesion

6.0

Paragraphing is logical and linking devices are used throughout, though progression is at times mechanical and cohesion is weakened by unclear referencing such as repeated uses of 'it'.

LR Lexical Resource

6.0

There is a reasonable range of less common vocabulary, but inappropriate register and unnatural collocations, such as “nippers” and “utilizing a penny on education”, reduce precision. Some ambitious expressions also obscure the practical argument.

GRA Grammatical Range and Accuracy

6.0

A mix of simple and complex structures is attempted, but errors in subject-verb agreement, tense, and sentence construction occur with some frequency without usually blocking meaning.
