The modes of transportation and the way of going from one locale of the globe to another is a cakewalk now, thanks to the aerospace and aviation industry. The number of flights has mushroomed in the modern world for various reasons, including , events, etc. However, that comes with its own fair share of advantages and disadvantages. In the forthcoming paragraphs, I shall elucidate the merits and demerits of the increment in flights and analyse if levying more taxes on flights would be good.

When we talk about the advantages of the increase in flights over the past few years, the first benefit that comes to the fore is the the manoeuvres are executed today. Where the operational front of the organisations was halted because of the time constraint and distance restraints now seems out of the question owing to the swift transportation of aeroplanes/choppers. Also, the cost at which the tickets were booked almost a decade ago has now gnawed off to half owing to frequent air travel. Moreover, from the tourism point of view, not only has it increased the revenue from more tourists across the globe, but it has also invoked a sense of unity as people get to discover the nooks and crannies of the world. However, there are some disadvantages of these periodic air travels as well. The most calamitous devastation is the air pollution that has been disastrously polluting the atmosphere with certain incombustible or partially combusted gases, such as . This has increased the level of air pollution and has deteriorated the air quality over a period of time, which consequentially, has been detrimental to the .

Not only would it impede the business requirements, but it would also curb the developmental strides of the modern world in many aspects. A better remedial measure to the menace of air pollution would be the fostered implementation of the eco friendly fuels. This would certainly result in the and shall not hamper the speed of development.

In conclusion therefore, we may say that the burgeoning flights come with advantages and disadvantages, and levying more taxes on air travel is not a good alternative and .

Overall assessment

Why this response received Band 7.0

The strongest aspect is the response's ambitious language and its full coverage of both questions, with a clearly argued stance against higher flight taxes and a plausible alternative solution. The main limitation is that much of the vocabulary is overwrought or misused at key points, which occasionally blurs precise meaning.

IELTS criteria

How each score was decided

Task Response

7.0

The response addresses both parts of the task, presents a clear position on taxation, and develops main ideas such as business efficiency, tourism, and pollution with relevant supporting explanation, though some support is asserted rather than fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion

7.0

Ideas are organised logically across clear paragraphs with a range of cohesive devices, though some linking is mechanical and occasional overlong sentences slightly reduce smooth progression.

Lexical Resource

6.0

There is a wide and ambitious vocabulary range, but frequent unnatural or inaccurate usage, such as 'gnawed off to half', 'detrimental to the human diaspora', and 'shouldn't actualize', limits precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy

7.0

A variety of complex structures, including conditionals, relative clauses, and inversion, is used with generally good control, and errors are mostly minor and non-impeding despite occasional awkward constructions.
