Overall assessment

Why this response received Band 7.0

The strongest aspect is the clear, complete coverage of the task, with all three bullet points addressed in a well-organised, appropriately toned letter. The main limitation is some imprecision in word choice and phrasing, which slightly reduces the polish without obstructing communication.

IELTS criteria

How each score was decided

Task Achievement

7.0

The letter covers all three bullet points with relevant detail and a suitable semi-formal tone, though the motivation bullet is slightly diluted by the focus on earning money for a course.

Coherence and Cohesion

7.0

Ideas progress logically across well-sequenced paragraphs, with mostly effective linking, though transitions within some sentences are slightly mechanical.

Lexical Resource

7.0

Vocabulary is generally adequate and appropriate for the household-help context, with occasional imprecise word choices such as 'a few items' and 'planning to intake'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy

7.0

A range of sentence structures is used with generally good control, and errors such as 'doing groceries' are minor and do not impede meaning.
