Overall assessment

Why this response received Band 7.0

The letter successfully covers all three bullet points with friendly, well-developed detail about the destination, the journey, and the invitation. The strongest aspect is the ambitious vocabulary and sentence variety, while the main limitation is imprecise word choice and slightly mechanical linking that occasionally distorts meaning.

IELTS criteria

How each score was decided

Task Achievement

7.0

All three bullet points are clearly addressed with relevant, developed detail, and the tone is appropriately friendly, though a few implausible details and an odd offer to sponsor the trip slightly weaken precision.

Coherence and Cohesion

6.5

Progression is logical from location to journey to sights to the invitation, but cohesive devices are somewhat mechanical ('Firstly', 'Furthermore', 'In addition') and some referencing and idea links are loose.

Lexical Resource

7.0

The response shows good lexical range with items like 'long-haul flight', 'commenced', and 'astonishing viewpoints', though occasional inaccurate collocations such as 'I was tranquillity' and 'rose spectacular gardens' affect precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy

7.0

A good variety of simple and complex structures is used with generally strong control, and errors such as 'till Manali' and 'we thrived in reaching' are minor and rarely impede meaning.
