People have always been concerned with their future. Some people believe that we should not worry about the future but live in the present instead. I believe a person who wants to succeed in life is better off for the future instead of focusing on the present.

A plan for the future is similar to a roadmap for life, and it would be equivalent to living a meaningless life if one did not spend time setting goals. are strongly influenced by what one hopes to achieve in the long run. Similarly, having no plans for the future leaves you uncertain of what to do in the present. When you have goals, your actions will be aligned and they will dictate your actions. Setting a fair goal can motivate long-term career decisions and make one more likely to work hard for success.

In addition, achieving career goals and objectives is more likely to motivate a person to work hard. Therefore, planning ahead is a vital factor for success, as those who do it are the ones who see the benefit of it in the long run. Additionally, today’s environment is extremely uncertain, and stability in both life and health is essential. Making no plans can lead to significant consequences in one’s life. For instance, many people today are investing in stocks and bonds, not only for themselves but also for their family and children, so that they can have a secure future.

However, people may argue that planning for the future puts them under pressure and reduces their happiness now, but it is not the right approach. Planning ahead will help us to cope better at difficult times.

Overall assessment

Why this response received Band 6.5

The essay maintains a clear position and supports it with relevant ideas about goals and financial preparation. However, the motivation argument is repeated, and one sentence leaves unclear whether goals or actions are meant to guide behaviour. The conclusion also overstates planning's effect by suggesting it prevents future uncertainty. More distinct development and precise wording would strengthen the response.

Task Response

6.5

The response presents a clear position throughout, addresses the question directly including a counterargument, and supports main ideas with explanation and an example, though some points are repetitively developed rather than extended.

Coherence and Cohesion

6.0

The paragraphs follow a broadly clear sequence, but the motivation point is repeated across the two main body paragraphs. In 'your actions will be aligned and they will dictate your actions', the pronoun reference is unclear. These problems weaken progression more than the otherwise functional linking words.

Lexical Resource

6.5

There is an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic (e.g., 'strategies', 'long-term career decisions', 'secure future'), with occasional awkward or imprecise collocations such as 'a fair goal' and 'they will dictate your actions'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy

6.5

Simple and complex sentences generally show accurate clause and tense control. The sentence about goals and aligned actions is difficult to follow because its repeated nouns and unclear pronoun reference obscure the relationship between ideas. More economical construction would improve readability.
