Many people argue that using a bicycle as the main form of transport brings significant benefits, while others believe it creates practical difficulties. In my opinion, although cycling has certain drawbacks, its advantages clearly outweigh the disadvantages in many situations, especially in urban environments where sustainability and health are growing priorities.

On the one hand, bicycles offer substantial environmental and health benefits. Unlike motor vehicles, cycling produces no carbon emissions, which helps reduce air pollution and ease traffic congestion in densely populated cities. As urban air quality continues to decline, this zero-emission mode of transport provides a practical solution to environmental challenges. In addition, regular cycling promotes physical fitness, improves cardiovascular health, and reduces the risk of lifestyle-related diseases such as obesity and diabetes. From a financial perspective, commuting by bicycle is also highly cost-effective, as it on public transport.

On the other hand, there are undeniable limitations to relying on bicycles as the primary mode of transport. Travelling long distances can be physically demanding, while extreme weather conditions, such as heavy rain or intense heat, make cycling uncomfortable. Safety is another major concern, particularly in cities with heavy traffic and inadequate cycling infrastructure. Poorly maintained roads and the lack of dedicated bike lanes discourage many people from cycling regularly. Moreover, transporting heavy items or travelling with young children is often impractical on a bicycle.

Nevertheless, when supported by proper infrastructure and urban planning, bicycles remain a viable and efficient transport option. Overall, despite some practical challenges, the environmental, economic, and health advantages of cycling make it an excellent primary means of transport for many people, particularly in modern, well-designed cities.
