The overconsumption of fossil fuels has become a major topic of concern recently. Some people suggest that increasing the fuel price can be environmental issues. Personally, I believe that other measures should also be given equal consideration.

Firstly, cannot minimise the global dependence on fuel. even when the price of fuel increases significantly, people still cannot for petrol . For example, in daily life, people still need to use their cars despite the fluctuation in . Another clear reason is that petrol is also intended for other applications in manufacturing industries and . If the price of fuel increases, the national economy could suffer many unfavourable consequences.

When it comes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, some measures should be taken to mitigate the problems of overconsuming fuel. The most practical measure at the moment is to reduce the demand for resources in daily activities like or production. This can be done by encouraging people to turn to mass-producing energy-efficient products like hybrid cars or implementing new saving energy technology . Besides, the most sustainable solution is to lower the reliance on fuel by taking advantage of . Wind and tidal power in the Netherlands, nuclear power in Japan, and solar power in the United States have all proven their efficiency . These could be employed in other parts of the world to minimise the global dependence .

All existing that will not reduce the global warming effects. Some strong alternative measures need to be implemented to tackle this situation.

Overall assessment

Why this response received Band 7.0

The response presents a clear position against fuel pricing as a sole solution and supports it with relevant reasons and concrete examples of alternative energy. Development is sound but occasionally repetitive, and a handful of awkward collocations and slips slightly reduce precision.

IELTS criteria

How each score was decided

Task Response

7.0

The position is clear and consistently maintained, with relevant main ideas and supporting examples such as hybrid cars and renewable power, though some arguments are more asserted than fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion

6.5

Ideas are organised into logical paragraphs with generally clear progression, but cohesion is at times mechanical and repetition, including the duplicated phrase 'in energy', weakens flow locally.

Lexical Resource

7.0

Vocabulary is sufficiently flexible for the topic with appropriate items like 'greenhouse gas emissions' and 'alternative resources', despite occasional awkward collocations such as 'increasing the fuel expense'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy

7.0

A variety of complex structures, including conditionals and relative clauses, is used with generally good control; errors are minor and rarely impede meaning.
